For example, some enemies are so heavily shielded they can only be put down by explosive weapons capable of tearing through the steel, so you’ll want to have at least one player who can call down the Recoilless Rifle, a rocket launcher that’ll make short work of anything that stands in its way. It’s especially cool that any equipment summoned can be shared with anyone on the team, encouraging teamwork and allowing your friends to benefit from your untimely demise by looting your corpse.

Using the big guns, like orbital strikes and bombing runs, feels perfect for conserving your ammunition and grenades, but those can easily run dry before the artillery cooldowns are back. On top of their cooldowns, the heavy artillery or support of the Stratagems have to be activated using a wrist-mounted computer that requires fighting game-like button combinations to call down anything from extra ammo to a nuclear warhead.

There’s not only cooperative combat, but you’ll have cooperative objectives to tackle with your team as well. You’ll be able to share locations with each other and move together across the map.

Hoping to dive into hell with players on platforms other than your own? You're in luck, then, because Helldivers 2 fully supports crossplay between the PC and PS5 versions of the game. However, you have to enable it by going to Options > Gameplay and toggling it on.

The best part about the live-service model that they implemented is that you choose the rewards you want to get albeit with some restrictions. They also added new armor types in the game as opposed to the first game, where armor is actually something that you need to optimize now as it was purely cosmetic before. fantastic takedown of Imperial capitalism, is just as sharp today as it was when it hit theaters in 1997. The movie follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico as he enlists in the United Citizen Federation’s military to go colonize the galaxy.

I’m not gonna lie. It’s been a while since I’ve played the first Helldivers game, and this one blows it out of the water. The transition to third-person is absolutely perfect for the game, and leaning more into the parody of enlisting in the military makes it even better.

The gameplay loop is so tight, it would be laughably slim in the wrong hands. You team up, hit the planet, kill things, collect stuff then extract to count your earnings and buy better weapons. Repeat until exhausted. Levelling up unlocks new collections of deadlier hardware, but it’s basically the same thing over and over again until the planet has been “liberated” and you and all the other players in the world move on to another (yes, there’s a global real-time battle map, with every participant contributing to the intergalactic, ahem, peace effort).
